We are celebrating the festive season of year-end holidays by creating a fun way to send crypto to your friends, family, or even foes, with a variety of themes to choose from. This allows the receiver to feel the genuine warmth radiating from the received assets, which are decorated with festive and colorful styling along with the sums of it. Cause we deserve a lot of love and huge sums of bitcoin sometimes.
Challenge
Our send interface is simple and for the most part, it work perfectly to send a crypto asset. We can also write our little notes for the receivers which they can see the notes after receiving the crypto assets. However with the year-end holiday coming up this isn't gonna cut it, we need to spice it up and make it big and bolder, which raised question in our mind. How can we make the act of sending fun and interesting for the sender and the receiver?
Approach
To ensure efficiency and meet deadlines, we took several approaches. Firstly, we conducted benchmarking to understand how other products handle sending money/assets and to gather ideas on making the process enjoyable. Next, we focused on designing and prototyping, using the benchmark as a reference to create a customizable and engaging interface. Finally, we conducted internal testing by inviting friends to test the prototype, which helped us gather valuable feedback for improvement.
Iteration
Few iterations are conducted to ensure that we're making the proper design. We work through 3 alternatives with all 3 diffferent layout showcasing how can we add theme towards the simple notes and how user can use and change it.

The design for writing notes and choosing themes is noticeable once you use it. You have the option to choose from various themes and fill in the notes, allowing for two activities to be performed on one screen. However, we have noticed that the contrast between the text and themes is very poor

The latest design highlights the note component, which helps capture the user's attention. Additionally, writing the notes and choosing the themes can be done on a single screen, eliminating the need for users to go through extra steps. After receiving few feedback, we have decided to use the third alternative.
Testing
We prepared the prototype using the 3rd alternative and tested it with three of our friends from the community team. Here are a few positive comments we received from them: Two friends found it cute and fun, not expecting that sending crypto assets could be so decorative. They previously thought sending assets was mundane, but now they can write notes and add themes to spice it up. Another friend wished there were more themes to choose from, as the prototype only showed four themes. We take this as a sign of interest in using and customizing the notes once the feature is released. The most surprising feedback was that they could share their thematic notes on social media, which added to the cute and fun elements for them. We hope this feature will further engage users and create more interaction.
Summary & Result
After testing, we're confident in the results of alternative 3 and have decided to implement it in the Pintu App. Users can now transfer funds efficiently with clear contrast between the theme and text. We plan to add more themes in the future, including those for national and celebratory holidays. With our designs complete, the current feature is ready to use.
